Everybody knows that colours are associated with different emotions and feelings in the human psyche, red being one that signifies danger, excitement and passion. If you feel like you need a pinch of excitement or passion in your life (we can do without the danger!) then consider perking up your surroundings with a red rug.

This most vibrant of colours can be used in any room and will add a sense of exhilaration to wherever it is placed. Using red in your living area will brighten your life and highlight your room to its’ full potential. A splash of red can reinvigorate tired decor meaning you don’t need to spend the time or money on a full re-vamp.

Red rugs can also be fabulous in dining areas. Coupled with green or gold, red can be used as an accent colour for crockery, table linen or curtains. Create a stunning focal point by placing a red rug under your dining room table, and using green and gold table settings. This colour scheme works especially well at Christmas and will impress your guests with its vivacity.

Of course, red is associated with love and passion, so a fluffy red rug in the bedroom seems like the perfect idea. Place a red shaggy rug at the bottom of your bed to enhance the passion in the atmosphere and use red candles to create a dreamy, romantic mood.

So change the appearance of your room by simply adding a vibrant red rug and add some excitement today!
